The Education and Skills Directorate is one of twelve substantive departments within the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development OECD. Its mission centers on fostering knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values that drive better employment opportunities and quality of life, promote economic prosperity, and enhance social inclusivity worldwide. Leadership:

How We Operate:

The work of this department is supported by four key governing bodies:

  1. Education Policy Committee: Offers strategic oversight on global education reforms.

  3. Programme for International Student Assessment PISA: measure the academic performance of 15-year-olds across various subjects like mathematics and science, providing insights into educational effectiveness worldwide.

  4. Programme for Teaching and Learning International Survey TALIS Governing Board: Focuses on gathering data about teachers' practices and school leaders' management strategies.

The Directorates governance is further reinforced by committees that oversee activities related to adult skills assessment programs like the Survey of Adult Skills, the OECD Teaching and Learning International Survey, as well as initiatives in early childhood education and care.

What We Do:

The Education and Skills Directorate utilizes large-scale surveys, including but not limited to PISA, TALIS, the Early Childhood Assessment Study, and the Survey on Child Empowerment. These tools provide comprehensive data about educational outcomes, teacher effectiveness, student performance, curriculum flexibility, financial literacy among students, equity in education, and more.

Innovative Resources:
