Our Story

In 1921, a new company was bestowed with the name Weleda by its founder, Dr Rudolf Steiner. Instead of choosing his own name or any other moniker, he found inspiration from an ancient figure whose story resonated deeply within him - a title as prestigious and esteemed as that of Caesar, it was often associated with wisdom, prophecy, and seership.

This historical Weleda, the person after whom the title was named, symbolized distinction and carried meanings akin to prophetess or seer. Like Caesar himself became a personal moniker for one individual, over time the title Weleda evolved from being an honorific attributed to others to becoming associated with a singular entity.

Our Logo

Unlike many contemporary companies whose logos are designed periodically by creative teams reflecting their evolving identity, Weleda's symbol traces its roots back to the inception of our organization in 1921. Founding philosopher Rudolf Steiner envisioned this graphic emblem as an embodiment of our company's purpose and strength. The Weleda symbol combines three interwoven elements into one cohesive image - a vertical staff reminiscent of heraldic traditions, a spiraling weave that suggests the flow between celestial realms and terrestrial existence, and two interacting segments representing connections.

The Staff

The central pillar in this logo was inspired by the herald's staff, traditionally associated with Mercury, the messenger of gods. This emblem embodies truth and depability - symbolizing the link between heaven and earth. The trusted messenger moves across these domns, conveying knowledge from one realm to another.
